Seeds & Seedlings

Looking for plants to enrich your school garden or classroom? The City Schools' Farm to School team provides free seedlings to Baltimore City Public School staff on a seasonal basis for educational use. While many schools opt for seedlings to enhance their outdoor gardens, others choose to cultivate potted classroom gardens. Typically, there are two giveaways annually: one in fall and another in spring.

School Gardens at City Schools

As versatile educational spaces for all subjects and for students of all ages and ability levels, school gardens are valuable resources for enriching student learning and may provide fresh fruits and vegetables to school communities. Gardens at city schools align with the district's Blueprint for Success and support its efforts to promote outdoor learning.

Classroom Cooking Toolkits

The exploration of food transcends traditional subject boundaries, making it accessible and enjoyable for students of all ages. Beyond a deeper connection to the learning process, students who engage with food education demonstrate a heightened willingness to explore and embrace new foods. By intertwining food with education, we not only nourish minds but also cultivate healthier habits and lifelong skills in our students.
