Field trips to Great Kids Farm
(Grades K–5)

At the farm, kids engage all their senses as they immerse themselves in nature, discovering the wonders of agriculture firsthand. They learn about where their food comes from, witnessing the journey from seed to table and gaining a deeper appreciation for the environment. Interacting with farm animals fosters empathy and responsibility, teaching them valuable life lessons about caring for living creatures.

Student Summits

Great Kids Farm Summits bring together students from various Baltimore City Public Schools for a day of hands-on workshops and engaging conversations with staff and community experts around a particular topic. Summits are free, space is limited, and student groups are selected for each summit through an application process. Fill out the interest form if you would like to receive an email when Summit registrations open.

Friends of Great Kids Farm provides critical support to keep these offerings free and accessible to all students in Baltimore City, but these programs are managed and led by
Farm to School staff, part of Baltimore City Public Schools’ Food & Nutrition Services.

Farm to Classroom Experience
(Grades pre-K–12)

Farm to School staff bring the farm to your school to lead lessons on planting, food waste, and/or farm-fresh cooking. They then tailor specific content and lessons to align with classroom learning. These hands-on programs are designed for all students and aim to connect them to their food system, reinforce classroom concepts, and promote wholeness.

Farm Family Hours
(all staff & students of BCPSS)

All families of Baltimore City Public Schools students and staff are welcome to Farm Family Hours, where families are invited to immerse themselves in nature and agriculture! Visit the farm for an unforgettable experience as you meet the friendly animals, connect with the land, learn about sustainable farming practices, and embrace the joys of outdoor exploration.

Other Programs

At Great Kids Farm, dynamic programs are tailored to empower high school students through practical experiences and meaningful engagements. Whether through employment, internships, or volunteering, the programs inspire students to become informed, engaged citizens committed to creating a more sustainable and equitable future.
